Biography / Background

1. Short Bio:

Phuong Cao (Cao Thị Hồng Phương) completed her PhD in Applied Linguistics and Master in TESOL at school of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. She works at the Faculty of English, Hanoi National University of Education. She has been working as a lecturer and language teacher educator for many years, interacting with different kinds of L2 learners from in-service to pre-service. She has published some supplementary books for school students and research papers in domestic and international ELT journals. She is also a regular presenter at the national and international TESOL Conferences.

    • 2019 January: Awarded a fully funded travel grant for the International TESOL Convention 2019 in Atlanta, USA by RELO (Regional English Language Office, US Embassy in Vietnam)
    • 2018 November: Awarded a fully funded Victoria Doctoral Scholarship for a Doctoral study in linguistics, commenced at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand 

    • 2018 October: Awarded a travel grant for the Viet TESOL convention, an international conference of TESOL, by Regional English Language Organization, US Embassy of Vietnam. 

    • 2017 January: Awarded a fully funded scholarship by SEAMEO, RELC (Southeast Asia Ministers of Education Organization, Regional Language  Centre (RELC), Singapore) for MA course in TESOL with Victoria  University of Wellington, New Zealand). 

    • 2016 October: Awarded a travel grant by APEC Institute Korea, for presenting a research paper at the International APEC forum in education, Lima, Peru.

    • 2016 July: Awarded a scholarship for the AE E-Teacher program (Professional   Writing) by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, US  Department of State, and is administered by the University of  Maryland, USA. 

    • 2012 November: Awarded a scholarship by the Vietnamese Government, funded by  ADB Bank for Professional Teacher Development Program (awarded to the most outstanding MA students, a one–month study program in  Research Method Education at Southern Cross University, Australia) 

    • 2012 October: Awarded Second Prize in APEC writing contest for teachers of APEC  Economies by Institute of APEC Collaborative Education, Republic of  Korea. 

    • 2012 October Awarded a travel grant by APEC Institute Korea, for participating at the International APEC forum in education, Bali, Indonesia.
